Heads up: next APPG on ME meeting
Parliament returns from the summer recess on 6 October 2008.
The secretariat for the APPG on ME is shared between Action for ME (AfME) and the ME Association (MEA). According to the summary of the September meeting of the MEA Board of Trustees (see previous posting), the MEA confirms that the next meeting of the APPG will take place on:
Wednesday 8 October 2008
from 3 pm – 5 pm
in House of Commons Committee Room 18
Tony Britton reports:
“The main topic for discussion will focus on benefits – in particular the new Employment and Support Allowance – provided James Purnell, DWP Minister, is able to attend. Minutes from the July meeting will be available shortly in the news archive on the MEA website. We shall be attending a meeting with Des Turner MP, Chairman of the APPG, to discuss the proposal made at the last APPG meeting to set up an enquiry into NHS services for people with ME/CFS. A date for the meeting proposed by the Countess of Mar to look at common ground (and not so common ground) between the major ME charities has also been fixed.”
A copy of the Minutes of the July 2008 meeting and the Agenda for the forthcoming meeting will be posted here as soon as these have been published, and any subsequent revisions to the time and committee room.
Minutes of previous APPG on ME meetings held since July 07 are archived under the APPG on ME Minutes category in the left side bar.
Interested members of the public and representatives of local and regional ME support groups may attend these meetings.
