visiNew Year, new look

New Year, new look

Give it a few days and you’ll love it…

I have also launched a companion site to ME agenda

Dx Revision Watch

http://dxrevisionwatch.wordpress.com

Why another site?

The concept for Dx Revision Watch developed out of research and awareness raising undertaken throughout 2009 around the forthcoming revisions of two important international disease classification systems:

The American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM)

The World Health Organisation’s International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD)

DSM-5 and ICD-11 Watch will distil information already published on ME agenda site around the two revision processes and present this material in a more accessible format to a wider audience. Key information and resources will be added as more information becomes available. Updates will be posted on the rolling “Main Page”.

DSM-5 and ICD-11 Watch: Monitoring the progress of the DSM and ICD revision processes

The next edition of the APA’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual will be DSM-5 (DSM-V). DSM-5 is now expected to be published in May 2013 – a year later than had previously been planned.

Draft changes to the DSM are expected to be posted on the DSM-5 website on 20 January 2010.

The revision of the current version of the WHO’s International Statistical Classification of Diseases, ICD-10, and the development of the structure for ICD-11 is anticipated to be completed by 2014.

The Alpha Draft for ICD-11 is timelined for May 2010.

Christmas and New Year on ME agenda

A peaceful Christmas and better health in the coming year

http://meagenda.wordpress.com

Let’s hope this coming year will be the year that sees proper recognition for this illness and of
the desperate need for funding biomedical research.

ME agenda site will remain active over the Christmas and New Year period.
I’d like to thank readers for their kind messages of support and encouragement over the past twelve months.

Winter Solstice

New Year I can take or leave but it’s good to be half way through winter. This December, in Dorset, we have once again enjoyed spectacular sunrises and sunsets. The rowan tree from my kitchen window.

Journal of Psychosomatics: Issue November-December 2008: Error in URL

Journal of Psychosomatics: Issue November-December 2008

Error in URL

In the review article:

Customizing Treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia: The Role of Perpetuating Factors: Boudewijn Van Houdhove, M.D., Ph.D., and Patrick Luyten, Ph.D.

which was published in the November–December 2008 issue of the Journal of Psychosomatics, reference [14], a URL link to a posting and comments on this site, had been incorrectly cited by the paper’s authors as:

http://meagenda.wordpress.com/2007/09/07/nice-cfs-me-guideline-statement-by-the-me-association-07-Sept-2007

which returns a “404 page not found” error.  The correct URL for this webpage is:

http://meagenda.wordpress.com/2007/09/07/nice-cfs-me-guideline-statement-by-the-me-association-07-september-2007/

The authors of the paper and the Journal of Psychosomatics have been informed. Senior Editor, Ms Elizabeth Stone, has confirmed that a data supplement has been added to the online version of the review article at:

http://psy.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/abstract/49/6/470

and that an Erratum notice will be published in the March-April print issue of the Journal.

Changes to WordPress interface

Changes to WordPress later this week

Towards the end of this week, the wonderful WordPress.com folk who provide the free platform for this site are upgrading the interface to WordPress 2.7 and introducing a raft of changes, improvements and new features to the site owner Admin pages.

This new interface has been designed for optimum performance using browsers Firefox 3, Google Chrome, and Safari 3 and there will be some Admin features which may not be supported by older browsers like IE6, which I mostly work with.  But I also have Firefox 3 loaded and I will be using Firefox to find my way round the new interface.

The appearance and functioning of this site should remain much the same to viewers, as the changes and improvements being introduced are primarily for the Admin functions.  However, site owners might encounter a few glitches following the release of WordPress 2.7  and until I have become used to the new interface it may take me a little longer to get material up on the site.

Comments

I have taken the decision to disable the Comment facility for all categories of posting and I will be writing about this in the next few days.  In the meantime, I can be contacted via the Contact Page.

ME agenda runs on a free WordPress Blog which provides many features not available from other blog hosts and also generous storage capacity for files.  But because I don’t have the CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) upgrade which enables customising the standard design layout, the Comment link at the foot of each posting will still display even when the Comment facility has been selectively disabled or disabled for all posts – although the comment posting box, itself, will no longer be accessible.
